Plantar Fasciitis is a condition marked by pain anywhere along the underside of the foot. This pain most often gets worse at the heel bone while taking the first few steps out of bed in the morning, or standing after long periods of rest.
The plantar fascia is a thick elastic structure located on the bottom side of the foot, attaching from the heel bone to the ball of the foot.
The function of the plantar fascia is to provide stability to the foot and help support the arch so it can absorb the forces of walking and running.
In plantar fasciitis, there is chronic stress along this elastic ligament in the foot. There can be many causes and symptoms of plantar fasciitis.
Factors such as obesity, a flatfoot posture, or extended periods of standing increase strain on the plantar fascia, causing it to become inflamed over time.
Diagnosis can be made based on symptoms, whilst severe cases will also have X-rays showing a heel spur formation at the area of heel pain.
The role of MASS4D® foot insoles in the treatment of plantar fasciitis is to support the foot in its corrected posture to immediately relieve the excess stress on the plantar fascia. This correction allows the injured ligament to function properly, reducing tension and promoting healing.
