Trochanteric Bursitis is a condition that causes varying levels of pain in the hip joint. The level of severity varies according to the stress placed on the hip joint.
Climbing stairs, sleeping on the affected side, and/or getting out of bed after rest can cause intense pain. In some cases, the pain may travel down the outside of the leg and all the way to the knee.
The main cause of hip joint pain is an inflammation of a small, fluid-filled sac (bursa) that cushions your hip joint. This condition is a classic example of an overuse injury. In some cases, the pain can be caused by taking a bad fall on your hip.
A qualified health care provider will conduct a thorough physical assessment of your hip, pelvis and back in order to diagnose the condition. This could be confirmed by an ultrasound scan or MRI.
Applying ice packs to the painful region can help in reducing both pain and swelling. Once sufficiently healed, exercises to restore motion in your hip may be recommended.
Foot insoles can also be used during treatment. MASS4D® foot orthotics can help treat trochanteric bursitis by improving your balance and gait.
By correcting the foot posture, our insoles can help restore the alignment of the bones, and reduce the stress on your hip muscles.
